About The Drug

Otrivin Child nasal drops are made to give quick relief from a blocked nose in children aged 1 to 11 years. The active ingredient, xylometazoline, helps shrink swollen blood vessels inside the nose, which makes breathing easier and can reduce stuffiness caused by a cold, allergies, or sinus congestion. It works locally in the nose and usually starts to help within minutes, making it a practical short-term solution when your child needs easier breathing and better sleep.

When do you need this medication?

* Blocked or congested nose due to a cold: Helps reduce swelling inside the nose so your child can breathe more comfortably.

* Nasal congestion caused by allergies: Eases stuffiness and supports easier airflow through the nose.

* Sinus congestion: Helps relieve pressure and blockage linked to swollen nasal passages.

* Short-term relief of nasal swelling: Useful when the nose feels very blocked and your child needs fast symptom relief.

Dosage and Administration

How to use the drug safely and effectively?

* Usual Dosage:

* Children 1 to 5 years: 1–2 drops in each nostril, up to 1–2 times daily, only if advised by a doctor.

* Children 6 to 11 years: 2–3 drops in each nostril, up to 2–3 times daily, depending on need and medical advice.

* Do not use for more than 5 to 7 days unless a doctor tells you to continue.

* Method of Administration:

* Wash your hands before and after use.

* Blow the nose gently before applying the drops.

* Tilt the child’s head back slightly and place the recommended number of drops into each nostril.

* Keep the child’s head tilted for a short time to help the drops spread.

* Do not share the bottle with others to avoid spreading infection.

* Avoid using more often than recommended, because overuse may make congestion worse.
